problem with Dark souls HELP

i don't know what happened... it used to work perfectly on Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition from steam on windows 7... but since i updated to windows 10 it doesn't...the program works great, it maps the buttons and recognizes the controller perfectly, but at the moment i open the game it's like it's not there... it is not working in-game... the controller is a generic one (probably chinese) but it should not be a problem as it used to work...
