I figured out at least that it needs dinput8.dll overriding to work, then it successfully loads xinput1_3.dll. (I think it's actually waiting to not find any dinput controllers before loading xinput)
Now my controller works ingame, but none of the buttons are mapped. (They act like my controller would through dinput, not xinput)
I've tried every variation of hookcom/hookll/hookmode that I could think of but no joy.
